Pyke, Charles B. 1976,  Pioneering post-doctoral research paper on effects of El Niño and La Niña  upon precipitation patterns from California to Georgia. Written in 1972-1975 under world-renowned meteorologist and professor, Dr. J. Bjerknes, and published in 1976 in a major NORPAX Compendium..

Pyke, Charles B., 1972.  Doctoral Dissertation:  "Some Meteorological Aspects of the Seasonal Distribution of Precipitation in the Western United States and Baja California."  Written and published under Prof. Bjerknes. 

Pyke, Charles B.,  W.D. Bonner, and R.J. Hickey, 1969:  Comprehensive analysis of major flood-producing January 1969 storms in Southern California.  Written and published under Dr. William J. Bonner, Associate Professor of Meteorology. 

Pyke, Charles B., 1965.  Master's Thesis on Pacific storm patterns, including short-term climatic variations (of 15 to 30 year duration).  Found to be related to the Pacific Decadal Oscillation.  Written and published under Prof. Bjerknes. 

Pyke, Charles B.,, 1963:  "On the Role of Air-Sea Interaction in the Development of Cyclones"  (major ingredients for the development of a "Perfect Storm").   Won national MacElwane Award for undergraduate paper, and was published as the featured lead article in the January 1964 Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, with full-page front cover illustration.   Written under Dr. Joanne Malkus  (later, Dr. Joanne Simpson), Professor of Meteorology, UCLA.
